Scattered amongst Bhutan’s majestic mountains and deep valleys, adventurers will discover rural villages, Buddhist shrines, monasteries and unique dzongs or fortresses. Bhutan is perhaps the most diverse and mysterious of all the Himalayan kingdoms, where for centuries a traditional Buddhist culture has thrived in isolation from the rest of the world. Bhutan is a land of contrasts, lush forested valleys, fortified monasteries and sacred virgin mountains. The warm smiles of people here make each moment a special one to remember. You will see men practicing the national sport of archery, women selling mushrooms from road side stalls and houses painted with colourful signs. Monasteries, markets, bazaars, breathtaking mountain passes; all this and a lot more against the backdrop of majestic mountains.

Payza

Payza is one of Bhutan’s most experienced tour guides. Julia and Payza met in 2010 with Julia’s first trip to Bhutan, and, putting it simply, he made it unforgettable. Not only is he highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and speaks fantastic English (the basics you expect from a guide), but the extra care he puts into ensuring you have the best time possible is awesome. From consideration of special dietary needs to finding the best vantage points for festivals, to negotiating a way to get you that special photograph in a monastery, to telling the most fabulous and unforgettable stories that will have you laughing until you cry, Payza is a joy to travel with. He says that what he enjoys most about being a tour guide is sharing how people can live happily. He believes visitors come to understand and appreciate these values better through journeying though Bhutan.

To express interest in a tour or find our more, please contact us or complete the tour enquiry form below. Travelling solo? We invite you to join the tour and meet other like-minded people. If you’d like to take up our ‘willing to share’ option, meaning you share a room with another solo traveller of the same gender, you can pay the twin share price. It’s your choice, but we’d love to have you along.

Hotel receptions scented with lemongrass, farm houses painted ornately, chortens large and small traversed clockwise, colourful prayer flags and water wheels, chilli, red rice and momos, zhongs in prime positions with monks in red and orange on mobiles, views of mountains with large fertile valleys, laughter and smiles ... This was AJtB for me.

Paul J

I feel so privileged to be in this beautiful country - its a rare and eye opening experience. We have tried traditional feed and witnessed daily life . None of us will forget this.
